I taught a painting workshop at the Bakersfield Museum of Art a few weeks ago. This painting started out as a demo for the class. I ended up taking the painting home and finished it up last weekend in the studio with liz.

Lately I have been into painting on paper with gouache and watercolors. These are easy to transport and take on the go. I have to multi task these days, teaching and running the gallery has left me with little time for my own work. This was painted early this week in my sketchbook while subbing for a ceramics class. While the class kept busy with "Hand building Slab Construction," I kept myself entertained with a little painting of my breakfast.
After opening the gallery and moving into a new house, I took a little break from painting. This little guy was my first attempt to get back into oil painting again. Our house is never void of edamame, I eat them daily.

Once again the Bakersfield Californian has teamed up with the Bakersfield Museum of Art for this years Eye Gallery. During the month of August and September, the Californian will feature 3 artist every Thursday in the Eye Street section of the paper. The 19 artist selected to participate were given the loose theme of "Kern County" for their art work to be centered around. Each work produced will then be on display at the Bakersfield Museum of Art for their September 11th opening. Inspired by my nightly bike rides, solo or with friends, I decided to render a bicycle. Bakersfield seems to look different when you are on a bike so, "tonight... we ride."

For this years visual arts festival I decided to use cracked eggs as my subject matter. The restrictions were a little more challenging this year, limiting its participants to a 5x5x5 inch surface area. Two out of three of my entries were accepted. The Visual Arts Small Works Juried Art Festival 2008: Fragments, opens May 22nd 6-8pm at the Bakersfield Museum of Art, hope to see you all there.

Studio Seven has moved!! After the holiday craziness Liz and I have finally found a new studio. We are actually in the same building just two doors down from our old place. We are now Studio Seven at #5. We are currently in the process of getting settled in and already have lots in the works.
