Sliced Avocado
I taught a painting workshop at the Bakersfield Museum of Art a few weeks ago. This painting started out as a demo for the class. I ended up taking the painting home and finished it up last weekend in the studio with liz.

Peel
Lately I have been into painting on paper with gouache and watercolors. These are easy to transport and take on the go. I have to multi task these days, teaching and running the gallery has left me with little time for my own work. This was painted early this week in my sketchbook while subbing for a ceramics class. While the class kept busy with "Hand building Slab Construction," I kept myself entertained with a little painting of my breakfast.

Tonight...We Ride
Once again the Bakersfield Californian has teamed up with the Bakersfield Museum of Art for this years Eye Gallery. During the month of August and September, the Californian will feature 3 artist every Thursday in the Eye Street section of the paper. The 19 artist selected to participate were given the loose theme of "Kern County" for their art work to be centered around. Each work produced will then be on display at the Bakersfield Museum of Art for their September 11th opening. Inspired by my nightly bike rides, solo or with friends, I decided to render a bicycle. Bakersfield seems to look different when you are on a bike so, "tonight... we ride."

Two out of three of my entries were accepted. The Visual Arts Small Works Juried Art Festival 2008: Fragments, opens May 22nd 6-8pm at the Bakersfield Museum of Art, hope to see you all there.
