Two Chews
This painting was painted for the Bakersfield Californian’s Eye Street section for the Eye Gallery. A project in efforts to expose the work of local artists to a broader audience.
I was 1 out of 10 artist selected by the Californian to submit original artwork for the paper under the loose theme of “Kern County.” Since I have been working on a candy series, I thought a painting of a product from one of Bakersfield's landmarks was appropriate. We were given about a month to complete the project. Five of the works will be featured on the Eye Street cover every Thursday in August, with a mini-profile inside the paper.
On Sept. 13, the Bakersfield Museum of Art will host a reception for the Eye Gallery, in conjunction with the opening of the Museum’s fall exhibit, it starts at 6 pm, hope to see you all there.

Avocado
This piece received a 3rd place award in the state wide Visual Arts Festival last year. This painting was one of my studio chairs and those who know me know that I was obviously drawn to it because of the color. I painted this piece rather quickly and have never been more excited over a finished painting. I reluctantly sold this one, but fortunately I know the collector and am happy it went to a good home.
